Sam Rayburn represent the 4th Congressional District of Texas for 49 years, but also he served as Speaker of the House of Representatives longer than anyone in American history. He began his career with Woodrow Wilson inauguration & was not terminated until he had contributed much to John F. Kennedy’s New Frontier. He was speaker during both the Second World War & much of the Cold War.
Sam Rayburn wrote thousands of letters, delivers hundreds of speeches, & grant many interviews. Rayburn was master in handling the Congressional process & dealing with the Executive branch, whether it was in the hands of Democratic Party, or the G.O.P. his words reveal much about the personality & the equality of leadership of many presidents.
